Digital consignment note: Our partnership with EDITEL drives innovation in the transport industry

Our long-standing collaboration with EDITEL, a leading international provider of EDI solutions, has now culminated in a strategic partnership in the field of digital consignment notes. Together, we are taking the next step in the optimisation of logistics processes.

A head start through digital transformation

The digitalisation of the CMR, the international agreement on cross-border transport, not only ensures fast and secure processes, but also provides our customers with higher data quality and therefore more transparency as well as integration options. The introduction of the digital consignment note is supported by the EU's eFTI Regulation, which, starting in 2027, obliges market participants to accept or provide legally required information in electronic form when transporting goods.

Focus on sustainability and efficiency

The use of the digital consignment note enables a significant conservation of resources along the entire value chain: around 400 million paper documents and a large amount of valuable working time could be saved across the EU. At the same time, data quality is improved, which, as the basis for automation in transport management, enables a further efficiency improvement for the stakeholders involved.

Strong partnership for the future

With their cooperation, the two companies are combining their strengths: LKW WALTER, as a specialist for full truck loads, is contributing its concentrated expertise in the logistics sector, while EDITEL, as a leading service provider for the optimisation of digital supply chain solutions, is enriching the partnership with its solution expertise. Michael Gschwandtner, Director Digital Business at LKW WALTER, explains: ‘By fully integrating the eCMR operated by EDITEL into our processes, we are creating a highly scalable solution for our customers that can be rolled out to all land transport operations, regardless of the carrier.’

‘The provision of the necessary data in high quality and real time and its use for subsequent processes drives process automation and creates added value for our customers and partners.’

The partners have set themselves the goal of massively advancing the digitalisation of freight documents in the coming years - based on leveraging joint synergies and providing the highest quality of service. Gerd Marlovits, CEO of EDITEL Austria, also emphasises this: ‘eCMR is just the first step; the integration of additional digital transport documents is to follow. Together, we will ensure that all stakeholders benefit from the optimised processes in the long term.’
